Interfectorem Lamia

I was inspired by various vampire movies and the Assassin's Creed games and designed a prop to shoot a concealed foam stake a few feet. The internal mechanism comprises a roughly three-inch high-load compression spring to create adequate pressure to launch a foam projectile (these are harder to launch farther, as they have less mass). I determined the necessary force and dimensions of the spring using some spring and projectile motion physics. The projectile would be forced into a pressurized position, locking into the hook lever. When pressed, the torsion spring in the lever would allow it to lift, releasing the projectile. On the bottom left are my initial drafts. After diving into the Graeco-Roman aesthetic, I decided it should be wrapped in cloth using the slots in the baseplate. The bronze ornately embossed baseplate follows this theme, as well as the wood tones. The name is Latin for "Vampire Slayer", as it references the themes and inspirations behind my projects.
